A. Punch grafts
1. Full thickness (leaves scars)

B. Epidermal grafts
1. Suction blisters (no scarring)
2. Sheet grafts (no scarring)

C. Split thickness grafts (leaves scars)

D. Cultured melanocyte transplantation (currently not available)

In each of these different procedures the transplanted skin containing melanocytes must originate from the patient's own body. Transplanted tissue from another person or from another species would not be successful.
